The Harvard Medical School Department of OtolaryngologyHead and Neck Surgery consists of some of the largest and most productive communities of otolaryngology researchers anywhere in the world. Our research contributions have resulted in major advancements in medical science and otolaryngic practice. Working alongside clinical fellows, research fellows, otolaryngology residents, doctoral students, and research staff, our faculty strive to probe basic biology and develop leading-edge treatments for disorders of the ear, nose, throat, brain, head, and neck. 

The research in our department focuses on six main areas: hearing and deafness, vestibular, voice and speech, sinus and nasal disorders, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and head and neck. Learn more about the research efforts at each of our affiliate hospitals:
