Sophia Shalhout, PhD, serves as a Principal Investigator in the Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Research Center at Mass Eye and Ear. 

The Shalhout Lab is an artificial intelligence for oncology (AI4O) lab at Mass Eye and Ear specializing in applying big data analytics and novel machine learning approaches to multi-scale biomedical clinical data. With a focus on cutaneous and head and neck cancers, her main goal is to develop and apply algorithms designed to harness the power of clinical ‘big data’ to advance personalized medicine for high-risk cancer subpopulations.

Dr. Shalhout earned her PhD in biochemistry from Wayne State University and then completed wet and dry lab postdoctoral training as a research fellow at Boston Children's Hospital, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Most recently, she served as a Cutaneous Oncology Research Fellow at Mass General Cancer Center.
