Dr. Rui Han Liu

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Rui Han Liu graduated from the Honours Program at McGill University, where she earned her BS in cell biology and anatomy. At McGill, Dr. Liu won the Lawrence R. Katz Award in Thoracic Surgery and conducted basic science research. Her research investigated the molecular signaling pathways involved in neuronal migration with funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and from the CREATE Training program in Bionanomachines.

Following her undergraduate studies, she completed her medical doctorate at the Johns Hopkins University. At Johns Hopkins, Dr. Liu was awarded the Haskins K. Kashima Prize in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery for her examination of scarless thyroid surgery outcomes in North America.

Her research interests include clinical outcomes, cancer survivorship, and surgical innovation.
