Rahmatullah Wais Rahmati, MD, MPH, FACS

Dr. Rahmatullah (Wais) Rahmati is a board-certified otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeon at Mass Eye and Ear. He is a surgeon in the Comprehensive ENT Division and is one of the few surgeons in the United States who performs in-office sialendoscopy procedures using local anesthesia. Dr. Rahmati was recruited to Mass Eye and Ear to develop a state-of-the-art, cutting-edge program in sialendoscopy, which was identified as a critical need both at the institution and across the region. The sialendoscopy program offers an alternative to open surgical management of salivary gland disorders and is of great benefit to patients struggling with salivary gland diseases. Dr. Rahmati’s formal training in head and neck and skull base surgery provides him with the breadth of knowledge and skill set needed to manage this specific group of patients.

Prior to joining the Harvard Medical School faculty, he was part of the faculty at Yale University and Columbia University. He is the recipient of numerous patient care awards and resident teaching awards, including New York Top Doctors Rising Stars, Shain Schley Resident Teaching Award, and the Maxwell Abramson Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching and Service.

Dr. Rahmati’s clinical interests include salivary gland diseases, including sialendoscopy, head and neck surgery and oncology, and obstructive sleep apnea.
