Justine Philteos, MD

Justine Philteos, MD, is from Toronto, Ontario, and earned her medical degree from the University of Toronto. She went on to complete her residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at the University of Toronto, serving as chief resident in her final year. She is currently pursuing a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at Mass Eye and Ear.

Throughout her medical training, Dr. Philteos has been extensively involved in research, with publications spanning topics in head and neck oncology, neuro-oncology, pediatric otolaryngology and surgical education. She has presented her work at national and international conferences, earning multiple awards for academic excellence and research innovation, including the Wharton Head & Neck Award, Freda Noyek Otolaryngology Merit Award and multiple top resident research project recognitions. Her commitment to advancing the field is further reflected in her leadership roles within academic committees and initiatives aimed at medical education and equity in healthcare.

Dr. Philteos’s clinical and research interests include head and neck oncology, microvascular reconstructive surgery and surgical education. She is particularly passionate about optimizing perioperative care, improving patient quality of life following complex reconstructions and developing innovative surgical training tools. Her long-term goal is to combine clinical excellence with academic leadership to advance patient outcomes and surgical innovation in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery.
