James Alrassi
James Alrassi, MD, is a laryngologist and otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon who specializes in disorders of the voice, upper airway, and swallowing. He provides comprehensive medical, office-based, and surgical care for hoarseness and other voice changes, vocal fold lesions and paralysis, laryngeal reinnervation, laryngeal and tracheal stenosis, swallowing dysfunction, and professional and gender-affirming voice concerns. He works closely with speech-language pathologists and other specialists to develop individualized treatment plans centered on each patient's goals.
Dr. Alrassi earned his medical degree from the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and completed a scholarly concentration in medical humanities. He completed residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and fellowship training in laryngology at Mass Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. His academic interests include outcomes research in voice, airway, and swallowing disorders, medical education and simulation, and the history of otolaryngology.
