Originally from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York, Isaac Wasserman, MD, MPH, graduated cum laude from Yale University with a degree in Russian and east European studies. There, he worked as a paramedic in the neighboring Bridgeport and New Haven communities. Subsequently, he completed a Masters of Public Health from the Yale School of Public Health with a focus in health policy and global health, performing field work in Russia, before matriculating at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

While earning his medical doctorate, Dr. Wasserman was a research fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and was a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellow at Harvard University’s Program in Global Surgery and Social Change. As a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellow, he traveled to India where he worked with local communities on programs improving surgical capacity in rural settings.

He completed his residency through the Harvard Combined Program in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. There, he developed a passion for the thyroid and parathyroid, and he has stayed for an additional year of fellowship in Advanced Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery with Gregory Randolph, MD, FACS, FACE.  He will be returning to the New York area after fellowship to direct the thyroid/parathyroid surgery program at NJ Eye and Ear, including founding a radiofrequency ablation program.
