The primary focus of Dr. Fouzi Benboujja’s research is to create innovative tools to improve our understanding of the human laryngeal tract. His work leverages recent optical improvements in lasers and endoscopy to develop advanced optical techniques to assess and treat a variety of debilitating levels of dysphonia.

During his doctoral training at Polytechnique Montreal, under the guidance Professor Caroline Boudoux, he designed micro-optic components and built innovative instruments for intraoperative imaging. Since then, he has designed, built, and translated non-invasive clinical imaging tools that are compatible with all safety rules for human use.

Currently, Dr. Benboujja seeks to develop the first dual laser-based theragnostic system to promote an efficient and complete patient-tailored treatment. He is also working on building the first atlas of benign and malignant lesions using optical imaging.
