Elliana Kirsh DeVore, MD

Dr. Elliana Kirsh DeVore grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music with a degree in voice performance. Following her undergraduate work, she pursued a career as a professional opera singer, performing internationally in opera productions, concerts, and music festivals.

During the course of her opera training, her desire to understand the physiologic processes underlying the voice began to transform her passion for performance to that of science. She returned to the University of Cincinnati to engage in research with Dr. Sid Khosla at the Laryngeal Biomechanics Laboratory. It was shortly thereafter that she began to pursue a career in medicine, earning a second Bachelor’s degree in neurobiology. She was awarded the University of Cincinnati Presidential Leadership Medal of Excellence, an honor given to six of 35,000 graduates each year. She then went on to receive her medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School.

Dr. DeVore’s research is dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with complex airway problems, including those patients with voice disorders.
