Elisabeth Hansen, MD
Dr. Elisabeth “Elise” Hansen grew up in Ashland, Oregon, and graduated cum laude from Pomona College with degrees in chemistry and French. She received a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, France, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s degree in microbiology.
In France, Dr. Hansen conducted research on surveillance methods for shigella under the mentorship of François Xavier-Weill, MD, PhD, at the Pasteur Institute. She then traveled to Germany, where she studied RNA biology in enterococcal species at the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology at the University of Wuerzburg under Joerg Vogel, PhD.
Upon her return to the United States, Dr. Hansen earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School (HMS), graduating cum laude. During medical school, she researched equitable delivery of high volume surgical care in an integrated healthcare system under the mentorship of Regan W. Bergmark, MD. She also conducted research on timely access to care and clinical outcomes for head and neck cancer patients alongside Dr. Bergmark; Rosh K. Sethi, MD, MPH; Laura A. Goguen, MD, FACS; and Donald J. Annino, MD, DMD.
Dr. Hansen’s current interests include mentorship, health equity and disparities research, health services research and global healthcare delivery.
