Dr. Ciersten Burks is a fellowship-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Mass Eye and Ear. She specializes in the surgical and noninvasive management of facial paralysis, rhinoplasty, aesthetic facial plastic surgery including facelift, necklift/submental liposuction, blepharoplasty, brow lift, volume restoration and facial rejuvenation. She also specializes in total nasal reconstruction, Mohs reconstructive surgery, microvascular head and neck reconstruction and craniomaxillofacial trauma. In addition to caring for adult patients, she is trained in pediatric head and neck reconstruction including cleft lip and palate repair, cleft rhinoplasty and otoplasty.

She earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine prior to completing her residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at Mass Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. After her residency, she pursued a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Burks has written multiple textbook chapters on facial plastic surgery and her published works largely focus on clinical outcomes to drive innovation. Her passion for health equity has also led to several published works focused on addressing and mitigating disparities in patient care nationwide and globally.
