Dr. Stacey Gray portraitStacey T. Gray, MD, Director of the Mass Eye and Ear Sinus Center, Vice Chair of Education and Residency Program Director of the Harvard Combined Otolaryngology Training Program, has been named the recipient of the Mass General Brigham Outstanding Program Director Award.

The award, presented by John Patrick T. Co, MD, MPH, director of Graduate Medical Education at Mass General Brigham, recognizes a Mass General Brigham program director who has improved the quality of a training program and enhanced the overall experience of its residents and fellows. It is one of several medical education awards bestowed by Mass General Brigham, which began the awards in 2010 as a way of recognizing outstanding achievement in medical education.

Dr. Gray has led the Harvard Combined Otolaryngology Residency Training Program for the past 12 years, during which time she was awarded the Harvard Medical School Young Mentor Award for her contributions to teaching and education. She graduated from the Harvard residency program in 2004 and, upon completing fellowship training in rhinology and endoscopic sinonasal and skull base surgery, has emerged as a world-renowned leader in ear, nose and throat surgical education.

Under her leadership, the training program has regularly ranked among the top residency programs in the nation for otolaryngology–head and neck surgery (OHNS). The program, founded in 1830, is one of the oldest in the United States and has grown to include more than 150 faculty members from five clinical venues.

“Dr. Gray’s tireless efforts, collaborative nature and incredible vision have allowed our residency program to reach new heights over the past several years,” said Mark A. Varvares, MD, FACS, Chief of OHNS at Mass Eye and Ear and OHNS Chair at Harvard Medical School. “Her leadership has already shaped the next generation of otolaryngology–head and neck surgeons and will continue to do so in the years to come.”
