Dr. Xiying Guan’s research focuses on understanding the structure-function relationship of the middle and inner ear in order to develop novel diagnostics and treatments for otologic diseases. His current study on bone-conduction hyperacusis aims to understand the mechanisms underlying the disease. His research approaches include measurements of inner-ear sound transmission in human temporal bones and computational modeling analysis. This study will provide the scientific foundation necessary for the development of effective treatment options for the disease that is debilitating for millions of people.
