Originally from Edina, Minnesota, William Benjamin, MD, MPH, attended the University of Michigan and received a degree in biology. He then completed a Master of Public Health in molecular epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He subsequently matriculated to the University of Michigan Medical School, where he graduated *cum laude* and with Distinction in Medical Research.

Throughout graduate and medical school, Dr. Benjamin conducted translational and epidemiological research on head and neck cancer under the mentorship of Steven B. Chinn, MD, MPH, and Laura S. Rozek, PhD. His research has focused on the oral microbiome, HPV integration into the host genome, and the tumor-immune microenvironment. Additionally, he conducted research on nationwide trends in the cost of head and neck cancer surgery and immunotherapy alongside [Rosh K.V. Sethi, MD, MPH](/people/rosh-k-sethi-md-mph).

Dr. Benjamin’s current interests include cancer biomarkers and precision oncology, cancer epidemiology, health services research and medical education.
