Dr. Kosuke Kawai is a Senior Biostatistician and Epidemiologist in the Department of Otolaryngology at Boston Children’s Hospital. In his role, he actively collaborates with clinical faculty members and research staff. He is interested in innovative application of advanced statistical methods.

Exemplary in this respect is his employment of a three-level hierarchical mixed-effects model to account for the correlation between ears in a longitudinal study of children with cochlear implants. He also conducts research on herpes zoster epidemiology to identify risk factors and appropriate strategies for prevention.

He received his doctorate degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
