Hasan Abdulbaki, MD, grew up in Hama, Syria and graduated *summa cum laude* from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Arabic studies and a concentration in music. He subsequently matriculated at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine.  
  
While at UCSF, Dr. Abdulbaki was actively involved in clinical, health systems and global health research. He studied the impact of musical rehabilitation on cochlear implant sound perception outcomes under the mentorship of Charles Limb, MD, and investigated global disparities in otolaryngology workforce resources and access to non-operative treatment strategies with the Global Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) Initiative with the aim of identifying scalable strategies to address deficits in OHNS care in resource limited environments.  
  
Dr. Abdulbaki’s current interests include global health, health system capacity building, scalable alternative treatment strategies and hearing care outcomes research.
