Dr. Hanae Lahlou is a neuroscientist in the laboratory of Dr. Albert Edge within the Eaton-Peabody Laboratories at Mass Eye and Ear, working toward restoring inner ear function through regeneration of sensory hair cells. Her research bridges stem cell biology, cellular reprogramming, and translational neuroscience to advance therapeutic strategies for inner ear disorders.

Dr. Lahlou uses small molecule compounds targeting epigenetic regulators and developmental signaling pathways to examine how supporting cells in the adult inner ear can be reprogrammed to regenerate hair cells following injury, with a primary focus on the balance organs. She has developed *ex vivo* and *in vivo* models of vestibular damage and was the first to demonstrate pharmacologically induced functional recovery of vestibular function in adult mammals, marking a significant advance toward regenerative therapies for balance disorders. Her long-term goal is to translate these findings into clinical treatments for patients.

She earned her PhD in Neuroscience from Aix-Marseille University in France, where she developed human induced pluripotent stem cell models to study otic sensory differentiation as part of the European Otostem consortium. She completed her postdoctoral training at Mass Eye and Ear and Harvard Medical School.
