DESCRIPTION:<p>	Held annually at Mass. Eye and Ear, the <strong>Intraoperative Neural Monitoring (IONM) Certification Course for Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery</strong> is designed to provide one-on-one intensive surgical, anesthesia, and monitoring instruction.</p><p>	The course incorporates observation in the operating room with a real-time demonstration of IONM set-up and surgical applications during surgeries, hands-on experience with a simulation monitoring model, and a series of lectures covering basic and advanced IONM techniques, medico legal and ethical aspects, application of IONM data in surgical planning, and interactive cases. </p><p>	All participants receive a certificate from the International Nerve Monitoring Study Group (INMSG) and access to a digital library of pertinent literature, video recordings, and templates of relevant anesthesia and monitoring protocols.</p><p>	The inaugural course was held in July 2016 and was the first course offered for certification for IONM for thyroid and parathyroid surgery in the United States.</p>
